Leadership Styles

Learning Outcomes 

  • Gain an understanding of True Colors by taking the self-assessment, learning about each color, and putting it to use.
  • Reflect on how the True Colors assessment fosters a better understanding of self and others through engaging activities that encourage students to collaborate.
  • Learn the differences of leadership styles based on their results of the True Colors assessment.

Values Exploration

Learning Outcomes

  • Describe the role of values awareness and values alignment in leadership contexts.
  • Identify a list of core values of meaning to them.
  • Critically evaluate the alignment between their core values and their behaviors in daily life and/or leadership contexts.

Resilience

Learning Outcomes

  • Introduction to the building blocks of resilience and assess how they are utilizing it currently in the 8 dimensions of wellness model.
  • Identify tools for resilience (microbreaks, failure lessons, growth mindset) throughout this workshop and learn ways to  incorporate them into their daily routines.
  • Seek out and practice healthy habits and routines that will make incorporating resilience into their leadership easier.

Emotionally Intelligent Leadership

Learning Outcomes

  • Expand emotional vocabulary by identifying emotions  and applying tools to better recognize and articulate their own experiences.
  • Develop self-awareness and self-management skills using the Emotionally Intelligent Leadership (EIL) Inventory, connecting emotions to personal experiences, and reflecting on how emotions influence decision-making and behavior.
  • Apply the three consciousnesses of EIL (self, others, and context) by analyzing real-world scenarios and demonstrating how emotionally intelligent leadership improves group dynamics and adaptability.

Goal-Setting

Learning Outcomes 

  • Identify their motivations in relation to their goals by understanding and using Self-Determination Theory.
  • Familiarize themselves with the best approach to adopt when implementing goals by learning about the general framework of Goal-Setting Theory. 
  • Create a personal SWOT analysis to determine their strengths, growth areas, potential barriers to personal goals, and ideate ways to make progress through involvement.
  • Use the SMART Goal template to create a plan to achieve an identified goal that is specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-based; something that can be completed in steps while they are at App or an overall goal they want accomplished before they graduate.

Group Dynamics

Learning Outcomes 

  • Reflect on past group experiences and adopt effective practices for future group work.
  • Describe the common dysfunctions of groups and the role leaders play in group contexts.
  • Apply each of the five team-building stages in Tuckman’s model to a shared context and formulate ideas for a leader to advance groups to the next stages.

Enabling Others To Act

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the importance of delegation and feedback when working with a group.
  • Identify and use 7 levels of delegation.
  • Learn how to give better feedback by learning and implementing newer methods.
  • Revisit self-determination theory and how it explains motivation.
  • Become familiar with  transformational leadership and its connection to team motivation.

Visioning

Learning Outcomes

  • Utilize the 5 Practices of Exemplary Leadership Model and assessment to gain further understanding of how their leadership practice impacts a group.
  • Learn to create and implement a shared vision within a group or organization.
  • Become more self-aware of how actions enact change that impact a vision by reflecting using a digital workbook.
