What is appLEADs?

Are you interested in earning leadership MEDALLIONS? AppLEADs is Appalachian State University’s co-curricular leadership development program, designed to help students grow as ethical, engaged, and socially responsible leaders. AppLEADs cultivates leadership development by guiding students to deepen self-awareness and integrity, build collaborative relationships grounded in shared purpose, and actively engage as responsible citizens within their communities throughout three different levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Students must complete the program chronologically – one level has to be completed before they are eligible to complete the next. At the end of each level, students who successfully complete all requirements are rewarded with a medallion to be worn at graduation. Medallion styles change each level.

Tier 1: Bronze

Learn to Lead Yourself

By completing the AppLEADs Bronze Program, students will:

Develop a deeper understanding of your unique leadership style, character, and strengths.
Build core leadership competencies that are transferable across roles, organizations, and industries.
Strengthen civic literacy through reflection on democratic engagement and multiple perspectives.
Cultivate resilience and confidence to pursue leadership roles on campus and in the broader community.

Tier 2: Silver

To be completed after Bronze.

Learn to Lead With Others

By completing the AppLEADs Silver Program, students will:

Strengthen your ability to lead and collaborate effectively within groups and organizations.
Enhance skills in delegation, motivation, and vision-setting to support group success.
Connect leadership learning to personal, academic, and professional goals through reflection and coaching.
Expand your capacity to engage meaningfully in community partnerships and experiential learning opportunities
