Student Team Positions

There are several student teams connected to Community-Engaged Leadership that coordinate events and programs for campus and the local community. Taking on a student leader role is a great way to develop your leadership skills, continue learning, build your resume, make a difference, and network with staff and peers. Most student positions are year-long, with applications typically opening each spring semester.

The application will be linked here, once it is open!

CEL Student Leader Roles

These students coordinate and promote sponsored projects and events, facilitate presentations and reflection sessions, and engage the campus in awareness and social change activities. Members volunteer on various branches of involvement including the LEAD Team, Alternative Service Experiences, App State Voter Coalition, Blood Drive Committee, Community Fellows, and Days of Service Committee!

Trailhead Student Staff

The Trailhead Experience is a three-day program that prepares incoming first-year and transfer students for life at Appalachian State. Several student guides help staff coordinate the agenda and run activities to ensure a successful event for 200 incoming App State students.

Communitiy Ambassador Staff

Community Ambassadors are an integral part of our team and receive mentorship and professional development from CEL staff. Students typically work 8-12hrs each week at a rate of $9.50/hr. Duties include: helping office visitors, updating CEL social media, other customer service-related tasks, and special projects to assist the office.

Applications will open in mid-March on Handshake.
