Student Team Positions
There are several student teams connected to Community-Engaged Leadership that coordinate events and programs for campus and the local community. Taking on a student leader role is a great way to develop your leadership skills, continue learning, build your resume, make a difference, and network with staff and peers. Most student positions are year-long, with applications typically opening each spring semester.
These students coordinate and promote sponsored projects and events, facilitate presentations and reflection sessions, and engage the campus in awareness and social change activities. Members volunteer on various committees (including passion project areas) and support Alternative Service Experiences.
These students facilitate leadership workshops and conferences, promote leadership programming on campus, and develop leadership capacity individually and among App State students.
Each of our Community Fellows is paired with a local nonprofit organization to coordinate service trips for small groups. These regular outings help students learn more about social issues and develop lasting, responsible relationships with our community.
The Trailhead Experience is a three-day program that prepares incoming first-year and transfer students for life at Appalachian State. Several student guides help staff coordinate the agenda and run activities to ensure a successful event for 200 incoming App State students.
Blood Drive Committee
These students help coordinate and promote our blood drive each semester to ensure we have adequate volunteers and donors to reach our community's goal.
